June 1 - The Tan ....and the Hamstring!
Tonights plan was an easy run to the Tan, and then a very easy lap with a group of friends. They were then going to walk a lap, and I was going to do a quick lap and then wander back to finish their walking lap with them. Then off for a feed at the Royston Hotel in Richmond!Anyway we were running late for meeting people at the bottom of Anderson Street, so the warm up jog became a bit quicker than intended! Met up with at the bottom of the hill and we started at a nice leisurely pace. I noticed as we went up the hill that the bottom of my left hamstring was still a bit sore, but that seemed to disappear as I really warmed up.
We completed the first lap at a comfortable pace, and the rest of the group were to walk, so I took off up Anderson Street for a second time. This time my left hamstring was still tight and sore, but again as I rounded the corner it disappeared pretty rapidly again so I continued on. However as I got down to the closest section to the Arts Centre it flared up again with avengance and by the time I reached the Tennis Centre bridge it was not going to let me keep running.
So I stopped and tried to stretch it, and that didn't make much differenec. So I began walking back along the Tan track to find my friends. As it cooled it became sorer and stiffer, and I had a few difficulties with it.
Rubbed in some Goanna Oil Heat before bed and while it isn't sore, I struggle when I try to stretch it out. Will get a massage as it feels a bit knotted and as it is fairly low on the hamstring and in a medial aspect I don't actually think it is torn, but need to give it a bit of a rest.
