3 July - Ivanhoe to South Yarra

Today I begin to pick up the training to 3-4 runs per week again, rather than than the 2-3 I have been doing recently. It was a bit of a motivational struggle to get going this afternoon, I had a real 'can't be stuffed' attitude going on.

Anyway I got going and headed off on my usual trek down Heidelberg Road to the Chandler Highway turnoff, from there I went south crossing the Yarra and continuing on up the slight climb on Yarra Boulevard. Then it was down onto the dirt trail that leads to the bridge crossing the Yarra again to Fairfield Park, where I continued on between the oval and NMIT. Then it was south down Yarra Bend Drive, past the golf course and once more across the Yarra to Studley Park. Straight up the hill, across Yarra Boulevard (again) and up another hill to Studley Park Road, before heading downhill along Walmer Street and across the Yarra once more to the corner of Burnley and Victoria Street.

From there it was a trek through Richmond down Burnley Street, along Bridge Road to Neptune Street and finally down Lord Street to the Coppin and Swan Street corner. Over the rail line and through the park to Balmain Street, along the rail line again, up and over the freeway and the Yarra for a final time, and finishing up with a solid effort up Darling Street hill.

All up I ran for 61 minutes and covered 11km's at a pace of 5.32.

Now I am going to really build my endurance base for a crack at a half. I think the Coburg Half is too soon, so possibly the Sri Chinmoy in September, but will look at all options. Then I will add more speed work and have another crack at a half with 10-12 weeks worth of speed work behind me.

That's the plan for now anyway!
