May 8 - Ivanhoe to South Yarra

Tonight was the first run back after a 7 day lay off, and it was a regular run from Ivanhoe to South Yarra. I was feeling okay, but unsure how my body would pull up after a week of alcohol/fatty food abuse.

I went out reasonably quickly, sitting on 4.30 pace and felt pretty good, however about 4 kms in felt a bit tired and lethargic. As this course heads down Heidelberg Rd, through Fairfield Park, and down past Yarra Bend Golf Course it is nice and flat. However as it crosses into Studley Park, a steep and sizeable hill needs to be negotiated. I ploughed up the hill, but was pretty spent by then.

The final 5kms was done at a nice easy pace, cutting down Burnley St, across to Coppin St, and finally to Church/Chapel St. A last surge up Darling St hill and that was another run completed.

Overall a 10.5km run completed in 57m30s, so while it wasn't fast it felt pretty good.
