July 10 - Ivanhoe to South Yarra

Tonight I wanted to extend my run a little as I didn't get out on the weekend as planned, so I decided to stick to the Yarra Trails a little more.

Again it was down Heidelberg Road to Chandler Highway and then south to the Yarra. Once I had crossed the bridge at the Yarra I descended the stairs to the lower of the trails which runs through the trees alongside the Yarra. This trail is a little more undulating than the upper trail and provides a fun workout, and it's also a little longer. This came out at the Fairfield Park Bridge and then I went up the steep embankment and followed the bike path along NMIT.

Then it was south along Yarra Bend Road until I had crossed the freeway, a quick right onto the track that followed the freeway down to the Yarra again, coming out at Dights Falls. From there I continued alongside the Yarra through Collingwood Children's farm, always funny seeing the cows and the horses etc in the inner 'burbs!

Up the stairs to Gipps Street and then through the heart of Richmond and along the train line and a hard run up Darling Street hill to end.

All up it was 13km, and I didn't even really look at the time.

The plan for the rest of this week is to throw in a long run on Wednesday night and then another 10-12km run on Friday night. The weekend is a bit of a write off at the moment, so nothing planned for then!
