September Update

The month of September was much better, as I managed to regularly run 2-3 times per week. In my run around Australia, I have now covered 1114km in 2006 and reached Swansea, just south of Newcastle.

I completed one race, which was the Spring Into Shape Race I, and did my first timed one lap of the Tan.

September 28 - The Tan

After some reading of the times posted for the Tan on the Ausrun Forum, I thought I should have a go at one lap and actually time myself. It was the first time I have ever timed myself around the Tan and I had no idea of what sort of time to expect.

I did a 1.5km warm up jog down to the Tan and commenced at the Pillars. I was feeling pretty good at the commencement of Anderson Street, and worked strongly all the way up. I concentrated on keeping my form immediately after the hill, as this is where I can slack off a bit normally.

I hit a bit of a rough patch just past the Children's Garden, and had to force myself through this. I picked up again as I came past the t-intersection at Alexandra Parade and completed the lap in 17m12secs. Not the quickest run of all time, but definitely something for me to work on, and a sub 17m should be very achievable.
