October 18 - Medium Slow Runs

The run home from work tonight was extended a little to get up to 10km. The 7-8 km run was getting a bit stale, and unless I want a short sharp run (or am in a hurry) I won't do the shorter runs home any longer.

I am just aiming at building up the kilometres in my legs before the Knox Half Marathon in mid December. This is a warm up for a crack at a time early in 2007, so it will be good to test myself out over the distance.

So tonight I followed Heidelberg Rd to Chandler Highway, south to Yarra Boulevard, and then along the Yarra track and over the river to Fairfield Park. Another south turn at Yarra Bend Road, past the golf course and over the river again to Studley Park. Up the path to Johnson Street, then along the river on the opposite side to the Children's Farm to Gipps Street, and once more across the river and through Abbotsford and East Melbourne home.

My legs felt pretty heavy due to the sprinting during the past week, something they are very unused to! Nothing overly bad however, and they will get used to it.

Outline for the weekend is Touch Football tonight, and then 16km either Friday night or Saturday morning, depends on the weather. Engagement party on Saturday night and then recovery on Sunday.
