September 23 - First Long Run In A While

I hadn't managed to fit in a longer run for a couple of months, and after struggling in the back end of the recent 8km race, I knew I had to build on my endurance!

So I got up nice and early on Saturday morning, and headed out into a cool but pleasant day.

I went south along the Fitzroy Gardens, past the MCG, over the Tennis Centre Bridge, crossed the Yarra at Swan Street and completed the western section of the Tan. Then it was across St Kilda Rd at the Domain Junction, and following Albert Road/Kerferd Road to Port Phillip Bay. South along Beaconsfield Parade to St Kilda, up to the bottom end of Albert Park Lake, and alonside the lake to the Albert Cricket Ground and across to Fawkner Park.

Finally it was through Fawkner Park and Park Street to the Tan and down Anderson Street, across the Yarra and past Olympic Park and over the footbridge to the MCG and through the MCG park and finally up Powlett Street.

All up it was a very easy15km run in 86 minutes, at a 5.44 pace.

I felt very good throughout the run, and did it quite comfortably. Now it will be a matter of consistently running these longer runs to build my back end of races.
