April 9 - RUN FOR THE KIDS

Well, the big event has been and gone, and an enjoyable run it was.

Arriving at Docklands around 8am, I caught up with Clarkey, Pep, Marty, Beki and Michelle from the Ausrun forum. Went towards the start fairly early and warmed up alongside the water.

I was running with a friend, so time wasn't an issue, although I wanted to help her finish in under 90 minutes.

We went out proabably a fraction faster than I would have liked for my friend, but she was felling good. Nice and steady, but around the 8km mark she began struggling. Water and some jelly beans didn't really help her, so at the 10km mark she walked for a while, and I kept running. My last 4.7kms was pretty consistent, and I finished full of running. My friend finished in just over 80 minutes, so she did remarkably well.

My splits for the run were:

1km - 5.12
2km - 5.10
3km - 5.18
4km - 5.13
5km - 4.48
6km - 5.15
7km - 5.23
8km - 5.21
9km - 5.27
10km - 5.51
11km - 4.56
12km - 4.33
13km - 4.34
14km - 4.34
14.7km - 2.56

Total Time - 74.39

A huge thanks to the training run organisers and run leaders, and to the friends made along the journey!
