November 21 - HV Training Session

Tonight I ventured for my first session with the HV Training group under the watchful eye of super coach - Tim Crosbie.

After a warm up jog from East Melbourne down to the Tan and then a half lap of the Tan and up to Fawkner Park, I meet up with the group. There was one friendly face immediately (Em), and a largeish group of 20-25 runners.

Tonight's session was 8 x 300m (Fast) and 8 x 300m (Recovery), alternating fast and recovery. This session sounds a bit easier than it actually was, especially as it was still 30 degrees when we commenced. The first 4-5 fast 300's were fine, however I felt I started to wane a bit on the last bit, but managed to complete the session maintaining a reasonable speed.

A 5-10 min warm down jog, followed by some stretches and ab exercises completed the session. I didn't complete the last ab exercise as I felt my back getting a little sore from my complete lack of core strength.

Then it was the jog home to East Melbourne.

All up it was an enjoyable session, more enjoyable on completion than actual participation however, and given my warm ups etc. a total of 14km was run.
