April 6 - Narre Warren to Beaconsfield
Well, I was heading out for dinner at a friend's house this evening, and needed to get a last run in before the Run for the Kids. So I decided to catch a train to Narre Warren and run the 6 or so km's to Beaconsfield. After standing for 80% of the train journey, and then alighting to a spot of rain, I wondered whether I had made the right choice. I fired up the Timex S&D and hit the pavement. The rain stopped as I started, not to be seen again. It was cool, but not terribly so. I quickly found a good rhythym and off I went.
The one thing I hadn't accounted for were the hills, particularly the large hill through Berwick. I really knew that I had worked hard after that one! Anyway I felt very good for the run, a lot of bounce and energy in my legs, and breathing hard but well.
I completed the 7.1kms in a touch over 35 minutes, which was an excellent pace considering the hills. I feel fit and ready for the Run for the Kids, which I hope will be a good warm up for longer races over the winter.
