April 18 - I've Been Tagged
Well, Beki has tagged me to answer the following 11 running questions:Here are my answers to 11 running questions:
1. What time of day do you run?
During the week I'll fit in my run in the afternoon. Generally I run home after work for 5 or 10km's, otherwise I'll be attending training sessions around the CBD. On the weekends I prefer mornings for my long runs.
2. What are your favourite runs?
I enjoy the run near the Yarra, between the river and Ivanhoe Golf course. I'm also very partial to the Beach Rd. run from St Kilda to Mentone. Getting a bit sick of the Yarra around Hawthorn and Richmond, due to numerous runs recently around there.
3. What is your favorite song to run to?
Way too many to name a definitive song, but the following are current favs:
- Song for The Seven Seas (Mick Thomas)
- Mr E's Beautiful Blues (The Eels)
- In Collingwood (The Sharp)
- Hercules (Midnight Oil)
- Good Old Boy Stuff (Mark Seymour)
- Any upbeat Lucksmiths or Ruckrover song
4. What book are you reading at the moment?
Just finished "Q & A" by an Indian author, about a waiter who win who wants to be a billionaire and is arrested for cheating. Goes through his life story, revealing how he knew the answers to the questions. About to start "Kokoda" by Peter Fitzsimons.
5. When did you start running?
I have just restarted running since January, after a 30 month hiatus.
6. What's your post-race/post-run ritual?
Depending on the run, if it's a long morning run, then generally a serve of eggs benedict, black coffee and the weekend paper. After most runs I'll have some lollies of some description and a sports drink.
7. What do you eat before you run?
Nothing before the long morning runs, apart from some sports drinks and a few jelly beans along the way. All other runs I'll eat a light lunch about 3-4 hours beforehand, and lots of water.
8. What's your favorite running accessory?
My Timex Speed and Distance watch, and I'll either take a radio for SEN or my Creative MuVo MP3 player.
9. What's your motivation for running? (or why you first started running)?
Running is first and foremost a great stress release, I find that running home from work allows me to be relaxed and feeling great when I walk in the door. Losing 6 kg's in the past three months and having more energy have been great bonuses. My family has a history of diabetes, so the loss of weight and increased exercise will also keep that at bay with luck.
10. What are your running shoes?
After being a Brooks wearer, I am now firmly entrenched in the Nike camp. I wear Nike Air Zoom Elite's for any short runs or racing, and I'm in love with my new Nike Air Structure Triax 9's.
11. What is your next running goal?
The next progression in my running will be a half marathon at some stage over the next 3 months.
